The 2008 movie “Rambo” begins it’s story In Thailand, with Slvester Stallone as John Rambo who joins a group of mercenaries to venture into war-torn Burma, and rescue a group of Christian aid workers who were helping the Karen and then captured by the Burmese Military after the massacre of an entire village.
While the movie is extremely violent, some insight into the the violence and oppression that the Burmese Military is exacting on it’s indigenous tribes may be of interest to some.
I found the plot and script to be even weaker than my lowered expectations. As with the movie Taken, which addresses human trafficking, I found simply killing the oppressors in mass, fails to provide a compassionate or realistic solution. It was pleasant to see Christian Missionaries represented in a fairly positive light, however. I also give credit to Stallone for using the movie to bring attention to the atrocity of the Burma nation.
