Update

I attended the training session for the next round of Karenni refugees. Number 2 for me.  I learned a lot more this time around.

Angie now a case worker from Compassio had some great insights. And I appreciated her energy and openness. She estimated the country is about 70% Buddhist and 30% Christian. She also pointed out that often refuges bring their ethnic tensions with them. Something I had not considered.

Last time I kept expecting this organized program, and felt a little confused by the lack of structure. Now I understand that it is more of an ad-hoc system organized by the volunteers.

Two interesting facts about Burma:

1. It used to be one of the richest countries in SouthEast Asia and now is one of the poorest.

2. They are now the #1 “Child Soldier” nation in the world.
